MILLIONAIRES WHO WERE POOR

Amazon's chief executive showed a knack for mechanics as a baby, trying to take apart his own crib. He focused on construction for most of his life. His online retail giant is now worth billions of dollars.

Bezos worked at McDonald's for a summer as a teenager. By the following year, he had caught the entrepreneurial bug and started a summer camp for kids who wanted to learn about science. He charged $600 each to six neighborhood kids who signed up.

And though he’s now a billionaire, Bezos worked hard as a boy on his grandfather’s ranch “laying pipe, vaccinating cattle and repairing windmills,” according to a Seattle Times interview.
